Anyone else have a home with one extremely ugly bathroom? Today I'm going to share with you how you can decorate affordably and pick up a few items from your local homesense to make it feel just a little more tolerable. I live in an early 1980s home that has not seen a single upgrade since the day it was built, so you can imagine the bathroom situation is not ideal. Of course not all bathrooms are created equal so I'm going to share some tips and tricks that can work whatever your bathroom situation is. Keep scrolling to see what I did to add a little more style and personality to this tragic bathroom. Make sure to also stay tuned for next weeks blog post as I share how to make a brand new or builder grade bathroom a little more stylish too. BeforeI think this before photo can speak for itself! This bathroom has a lot of different colours going on, there's brown, rust, gray, and beige tones in this small space. This bathroom needed a cohesive colour palette with the decor and accessories to take away from everything else that's going on. I created three different looks for this bathroom and it didn't cost that much. Styling a bathroom is such an easy, affordable, and, stylish way to update a space. All you need are the following items to refresh your own bathroom:
Look no. 1: Shades of BlushMy first look was using the existing colour palette and making it work well into a colour palette for this space. Since I couldn't do much about the countertop, tile and paint, I decided to make the best of it and add a fun pop of blush pink to the space. This pop of pink brings a fun, youthful, and modern feel to the space. Blush is extremely popular right now and it might not be for everyone, but if you have a similar colour palette it could work really nicely. Look No. 2: Textured WhiteIf you are not one for colour or are not sure if you should add colour to your bathroom I would always recommend going with a classic white look. White has a very clean and spa-like feel when added to a bathroom. Since this bathroom feels dark and heavy white what was the perfect solution to add brightness to the space. When choosing white it's always a great idea to add texture so it doesn't feel flat. I added texture with the towels and bath mat to create interest. Look no. 3: Pops of colourThis last look is probably the boldest choice of the three, but I love how it all came together! I drew inspiration from mid-century modern design and the fun colour palettes that most interiors had during the 60s and 70s. I had to incorporate stripes somewhere into this design and these Turkish towels were the perfect way to add pattern. Blue is always a great choice for bathrooms because it has a clean and calming feel to it. My other pop of colour is bright orange and terracotta tones. I love how the contrast of the soft blue and bright orange looked together to create a modern and fun look. Thanks for taking the time to read this blog post.
