Image source: Restoration Hardware This month I'm sharing my advice when it comes to furniture shopping. We all have our own personal style and budget, but I want to help you invest and save on the right pieces for your home. Today I'm sharing what items are great to invest in and what will stand the test of time. I have also added a few of my favourite picks for each item too! Next week I'll be sharing more about the pieces that you should save on. I hope you are able to take away some of my tips! sofasYour sofa is the piece of furniture that gets the most use in your family or living room. So it only makes sense to purchase a sofa that will last the wear and tear of kids, pets, and movie nights. I suggest getting a sofa with a classic silhouette so it will still be in style for years to come. The ones I have linked below are all extremely classic in my opinion and I know that they will still look amazing twenty years later. When you are shopping for a sofa it's important to look at the construction of the piece to understand the quality. You not only want your sofa to look good, but to also stand the test of time. This means doing a bit of research and looking at the quality of fabric and how to treat it. Beds & HeadboardsThere is something so luxurious about having a beautiful bed. A bed or headboard is the focal point of your bedroom, so it's really important that this piece looks amazing. Bed frames and headboards last a long time too! I always see these pieces in thrift and antique stores. I love the look of wood beds as they add warmth and texture and if you're bored you can easily paint them. Fabric and tufted beds and headboards give a soft and luxurious look, unlike wood. You can easily customize it as they come in so many different prints and colours. Also, who wouldn't want to come home to a beautiful and relaxing bed every day? Dining tablesIt seems like fewer people are eating at a dining table since kitchen islands have become the centre of each meal. I still think a dining table is a really nice piece to have in a home and is a place for families to gather. A dining table is another piece of furniture that is timeless and doesn't age. The tables below are all quite different from each other, but they are all really quality pieces that will last a long time. If you have a great dining table you won't want to ever replace it or get tired of it. DressersA dresser is another item that is essential since it is both functional and beautiful. Dressers come in all shapes and sizes so firstly it's important to figure out what size will suit your space and hold all of your clothes. Once you have that figured out you can start shopping. I have picked out a few below that would suit a variety of styles. I think dressers are an area where you can have a little bit more fun with trends because it's not a super large or noticeable piece of furniture. Details like find woodwork, texture, and hardware keep it interesting. You definitely want to pick the perfect dresser because it needs to store your clothing items perfectly and not to the point that things are falling out of it. This piece of furniture gets used daily so it's important to have one that looks classic, but also does the job too! Sideboards & shelvingMy last category is sideboards and shelving. Both of these pieces are used to store or display items. It's really important that you choose a size that can fit within your space and that can store things without getting cluttered. I love shelving units and sideboards because depending on the items you have, there is flexibility to either display or hide things. These pieces will last a long time too because they are not only beautiful, but they are highly functional too! It's so important to invest in the right organizational pieces to maximize function within your space and still keep it looking nice. Thanks for taking the time to read this blog post.
