Image source: Ikea This is the second part of my furniture shopping 101 series. The first blog post was all about furniture items that you should splurge on. Today's blog post is about the pieces you can save on. It can be hard to come up with a budget and know what the appropriate amount is to furnish a room. I hope that this series can help you create a budget and help you when you're out shopping! light fixturesLighting trends change so fast, that it just doesn't make sense to invest money into your lighting. When doing a renovation or building a new home your designer will usually have you choose your lighting last because of this reason. This year the trends have been natural materials, geometry, and gold or brass finishes. Lighting is an area where you can have a lot of fun and experiment with trends in your home. Lighting is also really easy to switch out too! dining chairsIn my last blog post, I was mentioning that the dining table should be the focal point of a great dining room and you should style the rest of your room around it. Dining chairs are more of a trendier item and don't always need to match your table. There are so many different styles of dining chairs and they are constantly changing. You can always go back to the classics, but if you're into a more trendier look it's always safer to go with a more affordable option like some of the ones below. coffee tablesI think a classic coffee table will always work for any living room, but if you're going the trendier route I have picked a few options below. Coffee tables are another statement piece and it is central to the entire living room. Coffee tables are a fun way to bring in a trend or make a conversation piece. armchairsArmchairs are a fun way to add colour, pattern, and texture to any room in your home. As we all know colours, textures, and patterns trends come and go very quickly. I love a statement accent chair and I think it adds a touch of personality and character to a space. There are so many affordable options for accent chairs and you don't have to worry about sacrificing quality either. Side tablesAccent tables are a smaller item that can easily be switched out as your style changes and evolves. Side tables are quite small and are not a focal point in the overall look of a living room. It doesn't make sense to spend a lot of money on a smaller item that will most likely be hidden by a large couch. Side tables are constantly changing too, so if you save on this item it won't be a huge loss when it goes out of style. Thanks for taking the time to read this blog post.
