Continuing on with my Mid-Century Modern Month series, I'm sharing my favourite furniture and home decor pieces. There are so many great pieces in this style on the market right now and I'm going to show you the best pieces. Mid-century modern is great becasue it's on trend and isn't going anywhere anytime soon! Keep scrolling to see my favourites in each category.
my favourite sofa
This is the perfect mid-century modern sofa! I love everything about it including, the tufting, the colour 😍, and the hint of wood from the legs. It also comes in a handful of amazing colours and is an amazing price!
my favourite side table
Nesting tables were a huge trend during this time period. These gold and mirrored ones are perfect! They have such a simple, but pretty look to them. I also love a mirrored table top because it reflects light from your table lamps.
my favourite chair
I love a good accent chair, so finding my favourite one was difficult. I managed to narrow it down to these two. They are both very different, but reflect the same style. The Show Wood Chair is such a simple design that could transition into any style. This is probably the most-produced silhouette of chair when it comes to Mid-Century Modern. The blue swivel chair is just so glamorous and I love the tufted detail and gold stand. This chair comes in four amazing colours of velvet fabric! I can't get enough of velvet and this is probably my two favourite things in design wrapped up into one. Love both of these options!
my favourite coffee tables
I am obsessed with Anthropologie and they have such amazing and unique pieces of furniture. Both of these coffee tables are from there and would work so well in a MCM style home. The Nelson coffee table is so perfect for contemporary take on this style. If I had to choose a favourite it would by the round inlay coffee table. I love the brass base and a coffee table made out of tile is so cool! These are both really unique, statement pieces that are perfect for being in the centre of the room.
My favourite light fixtures
Lighting is such an easy way to add personality. There are so many different kinds of light fixtures, so I chose to keep it to three pieces, a table lamp, floor lamp, and chandelier.
I love how simple and modern this table lamp is. It's so simple and would be perfect sitting on a desk or for a night stand. The gold accents throw it back to the MCM era.
The sputnik chandelier is probably the most popular MCM light fixture. This one is so popular today and it has become a trend this past year. I love this one becasue it has really simple and clean lines. This fixture looks stunning in gold and I could see this working beautifully in a dining room or living room setting.
My last light fixture is a floor lamp. Floor lamps were extremely popular in Mid-Century Modern design and this one is so perfect! I love the bent stand and the simple lamp shade that is metal. It's a really simple design and this lamp would look amazing in a reading nook.
my favourite dining chair
Teak & Woven Leather Chair from Wisteria
This chair is so beautiful! I love this wood tone and the leather is the finishing touch. Dining chairs are so versatile and can be used outside of the dining room like as a desk chair or an accent chair. I love the simple and clean lines of this one and how the natural materials are the focal point of this design.
my favourite dining tables
I included two different style of dining tables, since I love them both for different reasons. I love how simple and minimal the wood one is and it would look so beautiful with the chairs above! This could easily transition into a more contemporary or modern home as well. The table on the right is very 60's inspired and I love the clean white finish and curved base. This table would look amazing with a sputnik chandelier above it and wood dining chairs would warm it up.
my favourite Sideboard
Seno Walnut Sideboard from Article
This sideboard is so simple, but what makes this MCM is the legs and the simple geometry of the shape and doors. Walnut is one of my favourite wood tones for mid-century modern, but oak looks amazing for a brighter look. Sideboards are such a simple piece but they are so functional for storage.
my favourite bench & ottoman
A bench or ottoman are such easy ways to add impact to your home. This bench is so cool and unique and it makes the perfect statement. I love the unique shape, brass accents and simple design of this one. This velvet ottoman is so luxurious! It comes in several colours, is a great price, and adds some luxury to your home. It's a really minimal and simple piece, but the brass and velvet add a touch of glam.
my favourite bed
Carter Upholstered Bed from Apt 2B
I love this bed from Apt 2B because it's such a versatile design and it comes in so many customizable colours. The thin legs are what make this bed mid-century modern. I would love to design a MCM bedroom one day and I would totally use this bed to achieve that look. It's also such great price and comes in sizes to fit any bedroom.
my favourite dresser
A dresser is essential in any bedroom. Everything about this dresser is so authentic to the MCM style. I love the dainty hardware and legs on this dresser. This would look amazing with a round mirror over it or some cool wall art. A dresser is another great opportunity to play with home decor and create a pretty vignette.
my favourite night table
When I think about a MCM night table I imagine this one right here! Everything about it is on point and I love the brass accents. It's such a simple little piece, but is so functional because it has two drawers. This would look amazing after it is styled with a plant or fun table lamp.
my favourite accessories and home decor pieces
Adding home decor is probably the most fun and personal part about designing a space. I am obsessed with Urban Outfitters Home and all of they unique pieces they have. I love this round cushion because it comes in so many different colours, gives that retro feel to a chair or sofa, and is an amazing price. Landlines are slowly becoming a thing of the past, which is why a retro style phone is so cool now! I love the bright colours this one comes in and is functional, but also makes a pretty decor piece. My last pick is wall art. I love adding art because it adds colour, personality, and it makes your home feel unique. This one is so fitting and the walnut frame really accentuates the retro feel of this piece.
my favourite rug
Last but not least is a rug! They are the finishing touch and can pull an entire room together. What would a mid-century modern home be without the classic shag rug?! I love this one from Jysk because they come in neutral colours that are on trend today but still have the luxurious texture of the shag. I own this rug and it's so soft, comfortable, and it's an easy way to brighten up a space.
