Welcome to a new series on the blog! I was extremely busy with design school this past semester, hence the hiatus. I hope with new year I can write more blog posts and offer you new tips and tricks. I hope to be publishing posts more regularly and on Saturdays each week. Make sure to subscribe to my newsletter so you don't miss a single one! This series will showcase pairings from every aspect of the home. I will show you my favourite choices in material no matter your style! I have chosen materials for whatever category you consider your style under. Keep reading to see what my pairings this week are. The traditionalistI love a classic, traditional look every so often. I think this is the perfect combo! I think marble is such a timeless and classic material and you can do no wrong with it. I know it has been quite trendy for the past couple of years it has strong staying power for its elegance. As for subway tile, this is such a simple and affordable option on a budget! There are so many different style, colours, and textures of subway tile that it's so easy to find something you'll love. This beveled option is simple, but has a subtle detail that creates an elegant effect. I could see this fit perfectly in an all white kitchen. The trendsetter This is probably my favourite combo. I am in love with this countertop from Caesarstone. I love the veining in this countertop! Marble is so trendy right now and is an awesome investment for any home. These modern hexagon tiles look amazing once installed and are the perfect upgrade from the ordinary hexagon tile. I can just see these two materials in a kitchen with dark, dramatic cabinets, and gold hardware. Stunning! the BohemianI enjoyed picking out these materials and love this tile that I found. I've never seen anything like it before and the organic shapes and soft blue would look amazing anywhere from a bright kitchen to a playful powder room. The countertop is quite simple in comparison to not distract. This tile would look amazing against white or cream cabinetry, it would really make the sky blue pop. the modernist I wouldn't normally consider myself a huge fan of modern design, but I love how this pairing came together. Stark white countertops scream modern, I was slightly inspired by the design of Apples stores. This geometric hexagon tile is definitely not for everyone, but I thought it looked so fun and unique. Modern design has a really strong focus on line and angles and these tiles just fit right in. Since these are both a bright white, these could easily go with anything. I think the perfect cabinet this pairing would be a high gloss lacquer or acrylic cabinet. It would look so clean, sleek, and modern. The ruralistI must say that I'm not the biggest fan of rustic design, but the warm rich tones would be so cozy in a cabin! The dark countertops add a nice contrast to the beige tile. This tile has so much texture that it would look amazing with undercabinetry lighting to play on those shadows. These two would be beautiful in a rustic cabin with creamy cabinets. The Glamour QueenI thought I would go with something fun and a little crazy for my last one. This countertop screams glamour to me. You can't quite tell from this photo, but there is some sparkle to this countertop. It is probably one of the most stunning countertops I've seen. I love the black, white and gray colour combo of this tile. It's really bold but would look perfect in a kitchen with gray cabinets. When using a statement tile like this, it's important to let it shine and be the main focus of the design. It's so attention grabbing, but also includes the glamorous marble look that is so hot right now. Probably my second favourite combo here.
