Welcome back to another perfect pairings! Today we are talking all about paint and the different combinations you use. Although paint is such a basic element in the design world, it makes such a huge impact on the space! It has the power to change the mood, temperature, and psychology of a space. It is also extremely affordable and is so easy to apply that anyone can do it. I've decided to take a different approach to today's post and ditch the design style categories. Instead I'm going to pick each paint company's "2018 colour of the year" and pair paint with those. Keep reading to see what I pair with 2018's trendiest colours.

Pantone's ultraviolet

You might have heard that the projected colour of 2018 is Pantone's Ultraviolet. Pantone is known worldwide as the authority behind colour trend forecasting. They're usually not that far off from what the most popular colours of each year are. This year is a dark, majestic, and dramtic one. This room is such a bold statement, but I was most inpsired by the art on the wall and the colour blocking of the deep purple and periwinkle. These two colours make such a bold statement, but they play off of each other so well.

Benjamin Moore's Caliente

This hot red is predicted to be one of the trendiest colours this year. Not only is it trendy for interiors and exteriors, but on the runway too. This red is such a classic colour that it will remain timeless no matter

Sherwin-Williams' oceanside

This blue is stunning! It is such a bold choice, but it would look amazing as an accent wall. Pairing this shade with a bright and clean white is the perfect choice. This pairing looks modern, clean, and fresh. It's a beautiful take on the classic blue that everyone loves. This shade has a hint of green in it that makes it look almost teal. Such a beautiful colour and the crisp white really lets this shade shine and keeps the focus on it.

Behr's in the moment

I really love this dusty blue shade right now. It's a very elegant look and would look amazing in any room. I was inspired by this image off the website and loved how they paired this colour, with a dramatic dark green. It's a monochromatic look that is subtle, but looks amazing. I think a lot of people are scare to pair colours with anything other than white, but it's fresh and exciting to see something other than basic white.

Dulux's  Black elegance

Such a luxurious look! I love that a paint manufacturer finally came out with a liquid metallic paint. This is such an easy and affordable way to achieve the 24K gold look without the crazy price tag. I like how black elegance is not completely black, but has a subtle tint of purple to it. These are both statement paint colours, so if you're going for a really dramatic and luxurious look these shades are perfect for you!

cloverdale paint's Plume grass

This pairing is so beautiful together! It is such a soft and organic paint pairing, but it will look timeless for years to come. The soft green is such a peaceful and calming colour that this would be the perfect choice for a bedroom or master ensuite. I chose to keep the relaxing theme going by Plume Grass with this creamy off-white called White Glove. This off-white tint is just soft enough to create a calming atmosphere without being a bright white.

Olympic's Black magic

We have another dramatic black as the colour of the year. This black is more of a charcoal shade and is on the softer side in terms of black shades. Black is a very simple, elegant, and bold colour, but is also a timeless and modern colour. Black is usually seen as a basic, but it can create a lot of impact when used right. We often don't think of black as a colour option, but it pairs perfectly with anything. I paired this black, with a cool-toned, and soft gray. Pairing black with gray can make it look more modern and current. This also creates a cohesive, monochromatic look.

Dutch Boy's Sandstone tint

This pairing is such a simple one, but you honestly can't go wrong with it. I love how easy Sandstone Tint is to pair with everything. It will look great with anything next to it. I chose to pair it with thise perfect sky blue. It is such an uplifting and optimisitic colour. This pairing would look really cute in a child's room or even a master retreat.

Pittsburgh Paint's Black Flame

Back with another black shade! This colour family seems to be this year's favourite. It is so versatile, and you can achieve multiple different looks with it depending on what's paired with it. This particular shade has an undertone of purple and blue to it that makes it so cool-toned. Dusty trail really helps to warm up the space and bring the coziness back in. The photo above is a great way to use this pairing in an unexpected, but impactful way.

Sico's Cast iron

We have another dramatic black! This is the last one, I promise! You can't go wrong with classic contrasting black and white. This statement wall looks amazing with the horizontal stripes! Probably my favourite paint application of all time. This is such an easy and affordable way to acheive the wallpapered look without breaking the bank. Love this so much, and think that it would look amazing in any room for any situation.

Valspar's Restorative deep green

Valspar came out with a 2018 colour collection this year that included a variety of shades and tints. There isn't necessarily one colour of the year, but I chose to keep the focus on this deep hunter green. I love this shade and the pairing above is so luxurious and rich. Twilight purple is very similar to Pantone's colour of the year, and this colour is just so gorgeous! I love this moody and dramatic pairing.
