Wallpaper has been my favourite material when renovating. It makes such a big impact even if it's the only thing you change within a space. Your eye is immediately drawn to it and it creates the perfect focal point. If you only have the time or money to make one change in your space I recommend changing up your walls. It makes such a huge difference at an affordable price. Keep reading to see my wallpaper recommendations!
1. Classic stripes
There is something so classic about stripes that I just can't get enough of. It is very versatile as it can look both classic or modern depending on the space it is applied to. Stripes come in so many different colour combinations and depending on how you want to visually enhance your space they can be applied either vertical or horizontal. Since this print is so classic I have looked to two of the oldest wallpaper manufacturers for the perfect prints; Farrow & Ball and Graham & Brown.
2. feminine flora
There is something about florals that add a feminine touch to a room. They are so versatile as you can find wallpaper ranging from a damask to a banana leaf print. My favourite floral wallpaper is the mid-century modern banana leaf. You may be familiar with it since The Beverly Hills Hotel is known for first incorporating this wallpaper into their design. If you don't want something as bold I chose a more subdued floral print that still gets the message across. The organic lines add movement to the look and create dimension in an otherwise stagnant space.
3. modern geometrics
Geometrics have slowly made a comeback in design and are most popular in tiles and textiles. Geometrics are not for the faint of heart as they make a bold statement and big impact on the space. You have to really commit to the look if you're planning on using geometric patterns in your design. The wallpaper on the left gives the illusion of tile, but with wallpaper. It comes in several different colourways, but the navy and white are original. Another geometric wallpaper with a bit more glamour to it is the one on the right. It is inspired by the 1920's and the art deco era. The pattern is very busy so what's great about it is that it's removable. You don't have to commit to this one if you don't want to. I love how bold and how unique both of these prints are.
4. Glamourous Gold
This is another one of my personal favourites. There is something so glamourous about metallics, especially gold. This gold marble has got to be another one of my favourite wallpapers of all time! It is so pretty and would look amazing in a space with a lot of light. The second one I chose isn't as bold, but still gives that golden glow. This one is from Juju Papers and they specialize in metallic wallpapers in many different patterns and colours. The gold dots give a cute and whimsical vibe while still looking glamorous.
5. Whimsical prints
The last category is the whimsical or novelty print. These don't quite fit into any other category and have a fun, playful feel about them. I've chosen two equally bold wallpapers, but there is also more subdued pieces within this category. The first one would be so cute in a children's room. The illustrated bookshelves are really playful and add a touch of colour to an otherwise neutral colour scheme. The second one makes a big impact, but would look really cool in a hallway. I love the aerial view of the Manhattan skyline and it almost has a newsprint look to it that makes it so unique. What's great about this category is that prints like these are so uncommon and each piece is so distinct and unique on its own. No one would have the same wallpaper as you.
