We're in the thick of 2018 and you're probably wondering what this year will bring for home trends. I'm going to show you what is projected to be this year's top trends and how you can get that look on a budget. At the end of last year Pinterest released their predictions for 2018 trends. So far they all seem to be spot on! I was able to grab a few ideas from that article and show you some other trends that I think are going to be huge. Since trends come and go so often it can be hard to stay current and keep your home looking fresh. I'll be showing an inspiration picture along with my favourite budget-friendly items to get each look. Keep reading to see what trends are in!

1. Red Hot

This trend has been everywhere and we're only three months into 2018! It first originated on the runway where we saw models wearing head to toe red outfits. Naturally, this trend translated into the home. If you read my latest post about 2018 paint colours you'll know that Benjamin Moore's 2018 Colour of the Year is Caliente; a deep, warm-toned red.

2. natural textures

This trend already started in 2017, but it definitely carried through into 2018. Consumers are becoming more and more aware of the impact that they have on the environment. This is great because there is finally affordable pieces that you can get that is sustainably designed. I love this trend not only for its environmental contribution, but how it really brings warmth and texture into a space. Each of these items are so affordable and you can get them all from Ikea! Ikea offers a wide selectio of items made from sustainable materials such as bamboo, rattan, and cotton. This look is contemporary, but can also be scandinavian. What makes these items so create is that you have the option to customize them and make them your own unique piece of furniture.

3. Spa-like bathrooms & ensuites

This trend isn't necessarily new, but I think bathrooms are becoming more and more luxurious and elevated. There's something about a beautiful bathroom that just makes the whole experience of getting ready that much better. I'm not saying that you should completely redo your bathroom, but there are a few things that you can add to create this mood for your bathroom. You can easily get this look by rolling up plush towels, displaying potted plants, and lighting a scented candle. Such an affordable to upgrade a space, but it really does make a big difference.

4. Statement ceilings

Ceilings are probably the most overlooked part of a space, but they are a unique way to play up a room. There are so many things you can do! It could be as simple as painting it a contrasting colour or creating an elaborate pattern with trim. I've also seen wallpapered ceilings, and they look pretty amazing too. Since the ceiling isn't a large portion of your space you can definitly splurge on this area and it will create a completely new look for your room.

5. bold wall art

Gallery walls are out and statement art is in! It's all about quality over quantity for this trend. This type of wall art is little more bold, since it is displayed on such a large scale. It looks really sophisticated and modern to display art this way. When choosing art I recommend matching it with the colour palette of your room to create a cohesive look. I chose a good variety of different types of art. So if you're into photography, abstract art, or paintings I made sure to choose something that will please everyone!
